Lumpeks is a Polish-French quartet known for reinterpreting Polish traditional music with a fresh, modern energy. The group draws heavily from rural Polish melodies, especially from central regions, blending archival material with contemporary arrangements. Their sound combines raw vocal expression, fiddle lines played on horns, and rhythmic drive with experimental textures. Lumpeks is recognized for preserving authenticity while pushing the boundaries of folk performance. They have gained attention on the European scene for their bold artistic identity. Lumpeks’ work reflects a deep respect for heritage alongside a desire to innovate.
"The music of Lumpeks is caracterized by a free, brave, thoughtful and intuitive interpretation of traditional Polish music." (Piotr Kędziorek - Polskie Radio)
"Lumpeks is somehow prolonging the tradition, improvising out of the music's spinning sounds, making people dance in old and new ways" (Gabriel Bristow - The Wire)
Lumpeks is the winner of the Grand Prix "Nowa Tradycja" 2019 of the Radio Center for Popular Culture.
